Writer's Block

10:12:00 AM

It is one of the worst thing for a writer, ok at least when they really need to write. Truth be told I do not know the last time I actually wrote. So here I am today, with a work plan, yep yep, I have a work plan. I woke up did some yoga, got my inspiration for the day, half filled my sudoku puzzle which is becoming a bad habit, as bad as my twitter addiction (somebody pray for me). As I was going through my note pad for my 2011 projects and literature review, I came across this piece by an anonymous writer;

If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think you dare not, you don't
If you like to win, but you think you cant,
It is almost certain you wont.
If you think you'll lose, you are lost,
For out in the world we find,
Success begins with a person's will,
Its all in the state of mind.
If you think you are outclassed, you are,
You've got to think high to rise,
You've got to be sure of yourself before,
You can ever win a prize.
Life's battles don't always go,
To the stronger and faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins,
Is the man who thinks he can
--unknown--

Reading through this gave me the boost i needed after a week and a half in bed thanks to my seizures. And after a run through this piece, i just got on a roll, i replied all the pieces that had started gathering dust in my in-box and needless to say all my proteges appreciated it. i am about to start LITERATURE REVIEW for some workshops next year and am full of life.

During a recent talk i gave at Rotaract Milimani, i was asked what I do when I have writer's block, well I said I got back to me, to my visual book, to things i did or said in the past. i have done interviews and a question that always pops is what inspires you, it is where i am, where i am going and most importantly where i have been, that rape ordeal, that dropping out of Uni, that seizure attack, that getting fired, those important meeting that where great endorsement opportunities that i missed this week, thats what inspire me. Thing is, I don't look around, I look within and its all pretty in there. Last two weeks i have been re-posting previous posts and the reviews have been good.

I know I have quoted this lady enough but my deepest fear is not that I am inadequate now combined with the above piece if it goes wrong I AM TO BLAME so I do my best with what i have where i am, it may not be everyone's best but in Sitawa ville we sweat our asses off.

Happy writing people remember today is the foundation of tomorrow, the little things around carry so much embrace them.
