Consultancy

Hey Sunshine,

Welcome to my consultancy profile.

I am really looking forward to hearing from you on how you would like us to work together to create mental health awesomeness .

A little about me
I got into the mental health space from my lived experience with epilepsy and bipolar. I ran an impactful mental health social enterprise using different ways to create impact - from art, storytelling, social media, partnerships, media engagements, writing opinion pieces (been published by Huffington Post and NPR - USA, Mail and Guardian - South Africa, Daily Nation - Kenya), to using technology (I ran Kenya's first free mental health and epilepsy support line for one year, which served over 11,000 Kenyans by providing them with linkages to support groups, psychologists and psychiatrists), online and offline campaigns (that have continued the conversation on mental health and attracted supporters on various levels including mega events like Sondeka Festival and Blankets and Wine - Nairobi), taking conversations to schools, places of worship, workspaces and country wide tours (I recently self organized and ran two mental health tours - Akili ni Mali in 6 counties in Kenya and 6 states in Nigeria)

By being vocal and proactive about mental health from a personal point of view to national and global systems and structures, I have gotten the opportunity to interact with various mental health stakeholders as well as having a sit in mental health and epilepsy committees involved in national interventions and policy. This frontrow access as well as my vocalness have for the longest time made me the go to person for journalists and media outlets like BBC and Aljazeera, researchers as well as phd students looking for insights in the state of mental health, issues that need to be addressed and how they are being addressed. (PS: I have also done advocacy on different levels including high level meetings like Beijing +20 where I got mental health in 4/11 proposals to African Governments)

The impact of my work has gotten me invitations to speak at TED, the MOTH showcases including a UN General Assembly showcase, Aspen Ideas Festival, Mental health America annual conference among other spaces. Kenyan TV, Radio and Newspapers as well as publications in the Netherlands, India, US have captured my work and I have also been recognised among the top 50 global social impactors, among 42 African Innovators to Watch, Top 40 under 40 women Kenya and the Ministry of Health in Kenya named me a non-communicable disease champion (more on this in the about me page)

Consultancy Projects
With the knowledge and expertise gotten from seven years of self, national and international mental health advocacy, I am now working with those getting into the field, already in the field or simply looking for insights about the field, by equipping them with the tools and skills, I have picked along the way, to navigate in the mental health space.

I just started working as a consultant, and so far I have worked with;

Start up mental health organisations to shape their programs, hone their areas of intervention as they look at the social entrepreneurship angle of their work and Implementation of mental health in existing programs.

I hope all this gives you a snap shot of all the amazing things we can accomplish together. So head on to the private message me page and share a brief of what you'd like me and you to work on. I will tailor-make services that meet your needs and fit your budget and once we reach an agreement, we create mental health awesomeness.
